In 2020, we set out to develop a template that will help to diversify any industry. Traditionally, diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives have been sidelined, treated as mere extensions of existing functions or, worse, as afterthoughts. We chose to reframe DEI as a strategic, purpose-driven endeavor with a capitalistic pursuit.
Why the name Pronghorn?
The name "Pronghorn" embodies the spirit of our mission. The pronghorn, native to areas like Wyoming and Montana, is the second fastest land animal, capable of speeds up to 55 miles per hour. But it's not just their speed that's remarkable—it's their endurance, which allows them to maintain high speeds for longer distances than most other fast mammals. In a sprint, the pronghorn is second only to the cheetah in speed, but in a marathon, the pronghorn excels, covering greater distances more swiftly. A pronghorn can go further faster.
Pronghorns maintain their swift pace over distances that outlast other fast mammals, thanks to unique physiological adaptations such as large, oxygen-rich lungs and strong hearts. This combination of speed, agility, endurance, and visionary capabilities mirrors the attributes we strive for in our business operations.
Our mission is bold and ambitious: to foster a new generation of diverse entrepreneurs, business leaders, and creators.
We are starting with the beverage alcohol space and creating wealth for Black-Americans, committed to two primary objectives: (1) investing in 57 black-owned spirit brands and (2) recruiting 1800 black professionals from emerging talent to C-Level suite into the beverage alcohol space. By 2030, we aim to generate $2.4 Billion of economic value for the Black communities.
We are math-based and heart-led.
Together, we will build a legacy of equality and prosperity.
Drawing inspiration from the pronghorn animal, known for its unmatched endurance, our mission will also require endurance while pacing ourselves for sustained success. This is not a sprint, it’s a Marathon.
We are happy to welcome you to Pronghorn, where we strive for more than success—we aim for significance and a lasting impact.
Best,
Dia Simms
